About Project

The project was done on 2D PDF architectural drawings of a 6,300 SQM commercial premise to create a detailed 3D Revit model. The aim was to generate a BIM rich in data to manage facilities better and to renovate the building in the future.

Challenges

The major challenge was to convert the 2D PDFs in the stationary form to a dynamic 3D model. Due to its large size, the project required efficiency and accuracy, as there were only two resources and a strict timeframe of 10 days to complete. The major challenge was ensuring the model conformed with the Australian building codes using non-intelligent PDF data.

Our team's workflow consisted of a detailed analysis of the PDFs to guarantee that the dimensions are accurate. Using state-of-the-art BIM tools, we created a parametric Revit model in which every element would hold crucial information. This automated conversion and manual detailing of the model enabled us to create a powerful and smart 3D model.
